Blanket fever

So I totally hadn't sewn anything since like 8th grade when I took my first sewing class. Sad, I know, but when my mom tried teaching me, I was more interested in other things, like boys.... ha.

Needless to say, it's been awhile. But my super awesome (not to mention really really ridiculously good looking) husband, so thoughtfully bought me a sewing machine (after many hints) for my birthday! I was determined to whip out some fun projects, so with a very apologetic phone call to my mom for not wanting to learn sooner, I begged her to come refresh my memory. And of course she was more than willing too!

Thank goodness for moms.

So here are a couple receiving blankets I sewed together. Aren't the patterns SOOOO cute? I found this darling fleece and fringed the edges too!

Funny story to make you laugh (or at least smile). I had finished with the receiving blankets and was flaunting them to my hubby, and he makes the comment.... "THAT'S what you receive them in when they're born? It's going to get all nasty and dirty though?" ha. Now don't judge, my husband is very smart. He just didn't think this one out too much.
